A structured wiring panel — a centralized point where network, coax, and sometimes low-voltage audio cabling terminate — is not strictly necessary for a wireless-first setup, but becomes worthwhile once a home has more than about four to six hardwired devices or multiple TVs with separate streaming boxes, since it simplifies troubleshooting and future changes considerably compared to cables terminating at scattered locations throughout the house.
