The Sedgefield Elementary campus name
Sedgefield Montessori, the former elementary name and the current school information families should use.
What occupies the campus today
CMS now identifies the school at 715 Hartford Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28209 as Sedgefield Montessori. The school’s official profile describes a full-magnet Montessori programme serving pre-K through grade 6, formerly Park Road Montessori, with relocation in summer 2024. An older reference to Sedgefield Elementary should therefore not be read as a current standalone K–5 neighborhood-school designation.
The naming history matters because old property descriptions, archived school documents and search results can still use the former elementary name. Start with the current school directory, contact information and programme description; use older sources only to explain a past arrangement, not to determine today’s eligibility.
The former Dilworth split-campus arrangement
The former Sedgefield Elementary became Dilworth’s lower-grade campus in 2018. That arrangement is historical. Dilworth Elementary’s current official profile reports its new Haven Drive campus opening in August 2026, at 3701 Haven Drive, Charlotte, NC 28209.
The former campus names are not interchangeable with the current schools. When comparing enrollment or a commute, identify the current institution and its actual address first. A historical Latta/Sedgefield campus document does not establish which building a child would attend now.
Montessori admission is not neighborhood assignment
Sedgefield Montessori is a full-magnet school. Living near Hartford Avenue does not by itself guarantee admission. Confirm current entry-grade eligibility, applications, seat availability and transport with CMS School Choice and the school. Use the current year’s requirements, especially for children entering beyond the first years of the programme.
An assigned elementary-school place and a magnet application are separate matters. If choosing a home, establish the address-based elementary assignment as well as the requirements of any optional programme. Keep the district’s current answer rather than relying on a map, school-name match or property advertisement.
How to check an address before a move
Provide the exact street address and intended school year to CMS. Confirm elementary, middle and high-school assignments separately, then ask whether a planned boundary change affects that year. Resolve unclear addresses or new parcels with the district before committing to a school-dependent housing decision.
After eligibility is clear, check daily logistics: the school address, transport arrangements, hours and the actual route from home. The distance on this guide’s map is a straight-line estimate from its center, not a walking route or a transport promise. Sidewalks, crossings and traffic conditions need a separate assessment.
Middle-school and high-school questions
Sedgefield Middle is a separate grades 6–8 campus at 2700 Dorchester Place. It is not included in CMS’s current published IB middle-school list, so this guide does not promise an IB Middle Years Programme or automatic continuation to an IB high school. Confirm the child’s actual middle-school assignment rather than assuming the Sedgefield name creates a feeder relationship.
For each school under consideration, request current course information, support services and any application requirements. The schools directory helps locate options, but cannot establish admission, programme availability or a ranking. A nearby school and a suitable school are not necessarily the same decision.
Keep school and property research distinct
For homebuyers, school eligibility is one part of a wider decision involving condition, financing, inspections, commuting and budget. Do not assume that an advertised school association guarantees resale value. Compare properties using current evidence, and treat school claims in sales material as details to verify with the district.
